Purpose of NAPP
NAPP is a tailored professional development program designed to empower and support newcomer professional artists, arts administrators, and cultural workers. This program serves as a pivotal platform, providing connections, resource access, educational enrichment, and professional establishment within the Canadian arts landscape.

Experience personalized one-on-one mentorship, engage in professional development sessions led by esteemed Canadian arts professionals, undergo comprehensive training programs, and gain experience and exposure to the Canadian arts sector.

Dedicated to amplifying newcomers’ visibility in the arts and community-focused sectors, NAPP is more than a program; it's a gateway to essential information, abundant networking opportunities, career guidance, and motivation. 

NAPP opens doors to a world of possibilities for successful participants/mentees. Beyond earning a certificate, participants gain artistic opportunities, access to paid professional engagements, and a commitment to ongoing professional development. NAPP serves as your catalyst for a thriving career in the vibrant Canadian arts landscape!

In addition to the above benefits, participants are paid an honorarium at the completion of the program. 


Who Should Apply? 
This tailored program is designed exclusively for arts professionals in Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta who are newcomers to Canada, with a residence history of less than 7 years. This can include visual artists, performers, musicians, actors, arts managers, dancers, arts administrators in different sectors and cultural workers.

An arts professional is anyone who works in the arts either as an artist (visual, performing, multidisciplinary, media, literary etc or an arts manager, arts administrator or any form of cultural profession.


Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, participants must:

  • Be aged 18 or older.

  • Have resided in Canada for a cumulative total of less than 7 years.

  • Not specifically in Canada for a degree program in any Canadian educational institution.

  • Possess experience in professional arts, arts administration, or culture work in their home country and want to transition into the Canadian arts and Culture sector.

  • Live physically in either Calgary or Edmonton in Alberta, Canada.

  • Must be either a Canadian Permanent Resident, citizen, have refugee status, or generally be eligible to work in Canada. 

  • Be a registered ICAI member. 

    • Note that membership is free! 

  • If you are not already an ICAI member, please fill out our membership form, prior to filling out the participant application.
