Join us for an inspiring evening as we celebrate our partnership with CAAF - Calgary Allied Arts Foundation, and the incredible work of resident artist Raha Jazayeri. This event offers a unique opportunity to hear Raha share insights into her creative process during the artist talk, followed by an open studio where you can explore the new works she has developed during her residency. About the Artist
Raha Jazayeri, formerly known as Somayeh, is an accomplished artist originally from Tehran, Iran, now residing in Calgary, Canada. From a young age, Raha was deeply captivated by painting, and her passion for the craft has been a constant throughout her life. Despite initially pursuing a career in pharmacy during her university years, her love for painting remained unwavering. In 2007, Raha made the pivotal decision to transition into painting professionally, a path that eventually led her to fully embrace the world of art. Seeking to refine her skills and deepen her artistic journey, she traveled to Italy, where she participated in a portrait course at the renowned Angel Academy of Art in Florence. This experience further solidified her dedication to a lifelong pursuit of art, marking a significant chapter in her evolution as an artist. Today, Raha continues to create works that reflect her profound connection to the artistic process, drawing inspiration from her diverse experiences and rich cultural background.
Artist Statement:
In my art, I explore the vast spectrum of human emotion, from the depths of sadness to the heights of happiness, love, disappointment, and beyond. Each brushstroke conveys the depth and complexity of these feelings, encouraging viewers to connect with their own experiences. Every canvas tells a story, weaving together personal narratives and cultural threads from across decades. Ultimately, my work celebrates the universal human condition, reminding us of the beauty and resilience found within our shared journey of emotions.
