About this Event

The Shoe Project is back with new stories from Toronto, despite COVID. Get ready to hear eight new stories about starting a new life in Canada.

In its tenth year, The Shoe Project was created by novelist Katherine Govier and incubated at the Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto. Supported by the Government of Canada, The Shoe Project will present its very first online performance.

We will have performers from Bolivia, Mexico, Ukraine, Turkey, Syria, China, and Iran. They have been virtually coached in writing and speaking by Olive SeniorLeah Cherniak and Kate Lynch.

Come and be inspired, as this diverse group of women weave their powerful stories of why they left their homes to search for a better life in Canada. Unite in pride and meet newcomers by walking in their shoes.

At the end of the Zoom performance, we’ll stream two short documentary shoe story videos our alumnae created in collaboration with Prof. Gerda Cammaer from Ryerson University.
