The Immigrant Council for Arts Innovation (ICAI) in partnership with the Calgary Library is excited to announce the Immigrant Arts Festival (IMAF). IMAF is ICAI’s intentional means of showcasing the beauty of multicultural arts in Calgary. The first part of this exhibition started with Stride Gallery and is still on (please visit their website to read about the featured artists) and the second part is coming up on Marth 5th and March 6th 2021, 6pm to 8pm daily.
In recent times, we have had a lot of discussions about how Calgary can have a more diverse city when it comes to the arts, ICAI taking responsibility in this area has decided to create a multicultural exhibition. This exhibition will have artists from different parts of the world who call Calgary home display their work and talk about their creativity and their future goals.
The Immigrant Council for Arts Innovation (ICAI) is an arts council based in Calgary, Alberta. The council was founded in January 2019 with the expressed purpose of connecting newcomer and immigrant artists with the existing arts community in Calgary, providing these artists with access to needed resources and helping them turn their passion and creativity into thriving careers or businesses. ICAI actively encourages diversity of expression and culture through the creation of a safe and welcoming community where newcomer and immigrant artists feel confident to showcase their artwork and distinct cultural identities.
We appreciate the generous support of the Calgary Library, The City of Calgary, Calgary Arts Development, Rozsa Foundation and Stride Gallery for their support.
