The Immigrant Council for Arts Innovation (ICAI) held an inaugural Black History Month Activation event at the Performance Hall of the Central Library on February 1st, 2020.
It was a huge celebration of the black community with performances and visual arts display celebrating this heritage.
Curated by the director and founder Toyin Oladele, it was an inclusive event as it also had newcomer artists who are not necessarily black but who came to celebrate the Black History Month.
Guests were thrilled with the set of newcomers and immigrant artists who performed and displayed their works. Artists such as Bukky Abaniwonda, and vendors like the Ethnik Festival,
We also had community partners, vendors, and other Black History Month event organizers,
We appreciate the support of the Calgary Library, Calgary Arts Development, all our vendors and performers who made the event an unforgettable event.
